MelissaB and Aiden come to Des Moines

Melissa and Aiden drove over from SE Iowa to spend the day with me in Des Moines. It's crazy how beautiful the weather was last weekend for the KC gathering and this weekend was terrible: raining, gloomy and cold. But, we made the most of it and had a wonderful time. They got here around 1145am and we headed off the the Mall. We stopped into Champps to have ourselves a BFL friendly lunch. Here's Melissa with her grilled cheese sandwich and fries!!!

Actually, thats Aiden's lunch. She and I stuck to a BFL friendly day. She had grilled chicken and veggies and I had the grilled salmon and veggies. It was delicious, once it came prepared correctly!

We spent the rest of the day on a shopping spree. We had a great time and the company was terrific. There was always laughs, good conversation and insite, oh and a few impatient moments trying to maneuver around people in the shops. I am really happy that she could take time to drive over and visit. It certainly made my Saturday go by faster than normal!!

Ok, so the main reason I wanted Melissa to come over was so she could take this DAMNED jar of peanut butter with her. I pulled the jar out and gave it to her and then the sneaky little thing PURPOSEFULLY "forgot" to take it with her. As she was pulling out of the driveway to head home, she made reference to it and said "and dont eat it all at once." Growl!!! So, now I've hidden it deep into the pantry so I won't see it every time I go to make food. Damn you Melissa!!

Aiden is a real cutie as you can see. He had lots of fun playing with Sam's (my cat) toys and I think he could have sat there all day playing with them. He's a ham!!! It really makes you think about things in a different perspective. If you didn't know, Jon (Melissa's husband) is in Iraq and has been there for the past 7 months. I just can't imagine how hard it must be to not see your child making those great moments. Melissa and Jon are certainly strong people and I wish Jon a quick and safe return back to his family!!!

So, all in all, we had a great time. Well, at least *I* did and I hope she did too! Melissa is a BEAUTIFUL, caring person and I am glad I had the pleasure in meeting her. I look forward to seeing her more often and running the Dam-to-Dam 20K roadrace with her on June 3rd. Melissa and Aiden, thanks for coming out and hanging with me!

Suzanne, thank you SO much for all the great compliments! I had a great time despite the gloomy weather! I'm laughing at "a few impatient moments"...ok, so I HATE fighting crowds in busy shopping malls while pushing a stroller holding my "GRAB AT EVERYTHING" 1yr old. LOL Stores just weren't put together with strollers in mind!!
Damn right I left that PB there! You think I trust myself with that?! I told you I would've been eating it on the way home, it's much safer hidden in your pantry! :)
Thank you for the thoughtful mention of Jon. It's hard without him here but I can't imagine how hard it must be for him- being without both of us and missing all of Aiden's FIRST'S. Thank God for technology- there have been a lot of pics and dvd's!! :)
Thanks again for today Suzanne, I had fun and we'll be doing it again I'm sure! OH- and if it rains like this during our 20K, we'll just walk to the nearest bar and get some wings and beer. Sound good to you?!! ;)

Suzanne: Thanks for sharing the pictures...you're still beautiful and now I can see that Melissa is too! :) Glad you had fun!

Damn it Casey!! I know it! She purposefully left it. I've hidden it far far away in the depths of the pantry, so hopefully, I'll be okay.

Yes, I am very lucky to have met all of you! I keep thinking back on these past 2 weekends. I think they have been the best I've had in a long time!! I miss you guys!!!
